Who Is Arin?
ARIN is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of administration and registration of Internet Protocol (IP) numbers. Their Website is located at http://www.arin.net

ARIN POLICY CHANGE RESULTING FROM ARIN V
When an ISP submits a request for IP address space, ARIN will not accept IP-based webhosting as justification for an allocation. Along with the request, organizations must provide appropriate details demonstrating their virtual webhosting customer base. Exceptions may be made for ISPs that provide justification for requiring static addresses. ARIN will determine, on a case-by-case basis, whether an exception is appropriate.

Arin Has Made Use of Name-based Virtual Webhosting Mandatory
The name-based system of virtual webhosting used by many ISPs today allows multiple domains to be hosted by a single IP address. While some organizations use IP-based webhosting to, in part, justify their requests for IP space, ARIN will no longer accept IP-based hosting as justification for an allocation.

The above changes were made after consultation with industry groups, and in response to discussions held at ARIN's Public Policy and Members Meetings this past April 2000, with the approval of the Advisory Council and Board of Trustees.

Due to this change, ISP's have been forced to start converting their current IP allocation from dedicated to virtual prior to being issued additional classes.

Don't Be Fooled By False Guarantees
Please contact us if you feel your needs will require more that 32 IP's Per Server and we will request a justification for this and make every effort to retrieve the required allocation. We however, along with all other ISP's as noted above do not have the power to make the allocation decision. Don't be fooled by ISP's which state they can allocate Unlimited IP's as this is no longer the case. They also have to comply to the rules and if caught will have them revoked or future allocation suspended. Arin has became very tight on their allocation and in only extreme cases will allow additional allocation.

*Each IP address over the 8 Base IP's may incur a $1.50 monthly fee.
